5 Levels of truth – Level 1. Tell the truth to myself about myself

This week, let’s talk about the five levels of telling the truth. Today, we’ll start with the first level: Tell the truth to myself about myself.

Here are three common examples of how we not able to tell the truth about ourselves, please comment and share more your insights.

Not Knowing the Truth I Don’t Know: For example, you might unknowingly bite your nails or show other behaviors when feeling nervous. You may not notice it until someone points it out to you.

Not Liking the Truth I Don’t Like: e.g. Some of us do not like the signs of aging or gaining weight. Every time we look in the mirror, those wrinkles and round belly bring certain disappointment and frustration. As a result, you start avoiding mirrors and even hide behind filters.

Wanting to Be the Truth I Wish For: e.g., during an argument, we often say, “I’m not an unreasonable person!” However, in these situations, we struggle to accept any rational reasoning. Most of the time, our focus is on proving we are not a certain type of person instead of showing what kind of person we truly are.

Whether telling the truth is hard or brings pain, I encourage everyone to bravely speak the truth. Confronting our own truths helps us overcome obstacles in our growth. This fundamental level of truth-telling requires us to be completely honest about our thoughts, actions, and motivations, making it easier for self-awareness and growth to accompany and nourish our happiness and self-fulfillment.
